ALS, 1778 October 14 : Camp at New Hackensack, to [George Washington].

Dealer feels that this letter is almost certainly to George Washington, as Kalb addresses the recipient throughout as "Your Excellency." Letter concerns a dispute between Major Adams and Captain Levin Winder of the Maryland troops, who later became Governor of Maryland. There is discussion of a possible court martial for Winder at this time. Kalb was serving as second in command to Lafayette in the Fall of 1778.
